THE NEXT BIG THING

hobart assembly 2021 press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Hobart Assembly Breaks Ground on New Facility HOBART, April 24, 2021 – Hobart Assembly proudly announces plans to move forward with construction of a new worship facility. The goal is to enlarge the footprint on the existing property located at 7545 E Ridge Road (just west and across the street from Strack & Van Til). This will enable the church to meet the needs of its growing congregation and the surrounding communities.

With a history dating back to 1938, Hobart Assembly relocated several times over the years as the fellowship grew and moved into its current location in 1976. Under the leadership of Pastor Ryan McDowell since October 2006, the church has experienced a steady increase in the number of attendees and has now outgrown its existing space. “We have broken down every wall and expanded every place possible over the past several years,” explains Pastor McDowell. “We are excited to construct this new facility to increase our capacity to make an even bigger difference in the communities we serve.”

Construction of the new facility is made possible by the support of the congregation and many years of planning and preparation. Plans for the expansion began in 2016 when the church hired Jeffrey Parker Architects to design a new layout and the congregants initiated a multi-year building campaign. The new facility, which is designed to connect to the existing structure, is expected to cost $3.3 million and is slated for completion by early next spring. It will more than double the size of the existing facility and will feature a 525-seat auditorium, a dedicated and secure children’s area, a separate youth worship area with classrooms, and a large common area. The expanded space will allow room for larger gatherings and more ministry opportunities.

“Our goal is to foster an environment of hope,” states Pastor McDowell. “Hope for a better life. Hope for our families, for our communities, and ultimately for our world. Hope that is found only in Jesus. We present that hope by making the Gospel message front and center in everything we do. This sets an atmosphere where God’s presence is encountered and the name of Jesus is lifted high.” The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 1:00pm.

The featured guests include representatives from both Jeffrey Parker Architects and Lagestee-Mulder, Inc. who will serve as the construction manager for the project.
